Being a good digital citizen means making the online world a better place by treating others well, staying safe, and using the internet in a positive and helpful way. Just like you'd want to make your real-life neighbourhood a great place to live, being a good digital citizen helps make the online world awesome for everyone too!
With the tools you’ve learnt in this online adventure, you understand the importance of treating others online with kindness and respect, being careful with the things you share online, keeping your private stuff private online, being honest with your parents about things you see online, and developing a critical thinking brain that is there to protect you!
What Is A Digital Citizen?
We’ve talked about some really interesting topics that have given you the opportunity to learn how to keep your digital stuff secure online. Let’s go over all of the ‘Calls to Action’ that have helped secure your digital stuff, and make sure we’re levelled up as much as possible!
Turning on automatic updates on your device. We talked about why this is important in Lesson 2!
In Lesson 4 we learnt how to set up a really strong and secure password!
We’ve learnt why creating a back-up copy of your digital treasures is a great idea in Lesson 5!
From Lesson 6 we know how to do a security scan on our computer to make sure our device is secure!
All of these things are really important for keeping the digital devices you use secure from hackers and bad people online!
Keeping Your Digital Stuff Secure
When it comes to online safety, keeping your digital devices secure is only half the battle! To really be a top-level digital citizen in your online worlds, its important to train yourself. Let’s go over all of the ‘Calls to Action’ that have helped to secure yourself online!
Upgrading your privacy settings on social media. A great learning from Lesson 3!
Creating your own list of social media rules with your parents, also from Lesson 3!
In Lesson 6 you started your journey in building a critical thinking brain!
How to block the baddies and bullies was discussed in Lesson 7!
Video games was the topic in Lesson 8 - We wrote a list of all the games we play and shared it with our parents to agree on some do’s and don’ts!
And finally, Lesson 9 taught us what a digital detox is and we agreed to take a day off when we need it!
Securing yourself is just as important as securing your digital stuff. With these lessons in place, you can rest peacefully knowing that you are well prepared to face challenges when adventuring online!
Keeping Yourself Secure
Your dedication and curiosity in learning about various aspects of the digital world is amazing! From understanding online safety, cyberbullying, and privacy to grasping the importance of critical thinking, you've shown an incredible willingness to be a responsible and smart digital citizen.
